Community Garden
Some neighbours would like to start an organic
community garden at Morse Street Playground
(76 Morse Street)
If you would like to be involved, or for more
information, please contact Dave Toderick at:

In March 2007, Dave Toderick from Logan Avenue delivered this notice door-to-door around the neighbourhood. About 8 neighbours responded, met and agreed to pursue digging in a native plant bed to round out the northwest corner of the park, and, depending on soil testing, the creation of an organic veggie garden bed in the park. Dave successfully worked with city to get the necessary permissions. Some of the work in the native plant bed will be completed this fall & more next spring.
Update May 2015. Everyone involved soon moved away except Michelle at 61 Morse and Jenny. There wasn't any demand for a vegetable garden thereafter, and soil testing never did happen. But we still have a nice little naturalization / native plant garden to round out the back corner of the park. Much nicer than just chainlink fence and turfgrass.

Hey there
I'm amazed by both the passage of time and the way things grow
I read this many years ago when it was first posted and meant to say here how wonderful this is and commend my neighbours for taking this on and doing such a good job of it. Well written and holistic it imagines our workaday world in its glory. I'm very surprised when such goes uncommented upon and for that I apologize
